Tustin Police Department Volunteer Will Be Missed.

Long time Tustin Police Department supporter and volunteer Jack Schafer, passed away on July 20, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
Jack was an instrumental asset to our organization and played a key role as the founder in implementing our Tustin Chamber of Commerce "Officer of the Month" program back in 1984 while he was the President of the Chamber. Throughout the two decades of involvement in the program, Jack continued to show his support by donating his personal Angel tickets to the awarded recipient.
Jack was a long time resident (35 years) and business owner in Tustin where he operated a computer business called Computer Bytes for over 18 years. Jack was also a member of the Board of Directors at the Tustin Boys & Girls Club. There, Jack became known for bringing ice cream to the kids on Friday afternoons during the summer months.

In 1999 Jack was recognized as the Tustin “Man of the Year” by the Chamber of Commerce. In 2003 Jack attended and successfully completed the Tustin Citizen Police Academy. Shortly thereafter, Jack joined the Tustin Police Department Volunteer Program where he dedicated countless hours to the service of our community. Jack would commonly be seen year after year dressed up as Santa Clause riding on our Santa Sleigh during the holiday season greeting all the children of the community.

Although we are no longer blessed with Jack’s physical presence, we are eternally grateful for his dedication as a citizen, his commitment to his community and his legacy he has left for us. May he truly Rest in Peace.
